Meet the women and men who are making a lasting difference at ROSA!

JILL RUTTEN
Girls Director

Jill is a former U.S National team player and seasoned professional, having played for 16 years in Japan, Sweden, Italy (winning the Italian championship twice!), Germany and Switzerland. Jill has coached for over 35 years at every age level from tots to U18 and in multiple languages. Holding a USSF B license, Jill has served for over 14 years as Head Coach for Maryland Olympic Development Program U17s where she also oversees coaching staff training and evaluation. She also serves as the middle school coach for Sandy Spring Friends School and formerly coached at OBGC, Brit-Am, and FCGB.

Jill was inducted into the Maryland Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Springbrook High School Hall of Fame in 2015. As the Head Coach for ROSA's girls teams, she is passionate about creating an environment where creative players are formed into lifelong lovers of the game.

ROGER SAMPAH
Boys Director

Roger is a former professional soccer player who represented his native country Ivory Coast at various youth levels. Roger's wealth of playing experience includes DC United, Philadelphia Furry, and San Antonio Scorpions in the US. Roger also played for several European teams such as Suttgart, Ludwisburg, Bissigenfrom Germany, Beveren FC from Belgium, Koping of Sweden, Vissai Ninh binh In Vietnam, and Yarmouk in Kuwait.

With his USSF D coaching license, he coaches via both teams and 1-1 training, focusing on developing each player’s basic technical skills in order for them to be successful wherever they play. No one player is the same, so Roger designs drills targeted at each player’s growth areas. He particularly enjoys private 1-1 training where he can offer undivided attention to work specifically on what a player needs.

RAUL CARDENAS
Head Coach

Coach Raul has been coaching since 2013 and 1996-1999. His coaching philosophy is centered on player development with an emphasis in strong technical skills. He is an enthusiastic believer in Futsal. He currently coaches 2007 Girls Premier I Team, 2007 Girls Premier II and 2010 Girls Premier I Team.

Raul previously coached at Maryland Rush Montgomery from 2015 to 2022. Raul has a USSF D License. Coach Raul graduated from the University of Maryland, played at Montgomery College (MDJUCO Conference) 1991-1993 and played semi-professional with the Washington Mustangs 1995-1996.

ANNIE YARBERRY
Assistant Coach

Annie grew up surrounded by soccer, making varsity her freshman year in high school and earning MVP her Sophomore and Junior years. In the years since then, Annie’s love of the game has endured through intramural and adult league play as well as coaching. With 30+ years of field experience playing outside defense and wing, Annie focuses on players having a keen awareness of how to open up the field, starting with the goal keeper and trickling up to the strikers. Annie knows it takes all types to field a team, and as an assistant coach it is her goal to help each player establish their role on the field, while simultaneously helping players determine and master the technical skills that suit them and their positions.

Prior to assistant coaching for ROSA, Annie was a head coach for OBGCs recreational soccer league for two years. As a coach, Annie is guided by her belief that if young players can have fun while building technical skills, field awareness, and strong team bonds, they will grow into strong players.
